EFA says plans to remove the DRA are ‘an incredible leap forward' for the UK – 29 July 2010
New proposals set out today by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) signal the end of forced retirement.

All three major political parties commit to abolishing the DRA.Labour's manifesto (published on Monday 13th April) included the following statement "Age discrimination in the workplace has been banned. The Government has taken the next step in the removal of the Default Retirement Age (DRA) by announcing the launch of a formal consultation in the budget.The announcement includes a commitment to move away from the current DRA of 65, to consult on increasing or removing it altogether and on strengthening the rights of the employee in retirement decisions.
