There are just two weeks left to enter the 2009 Employers Forum on Age awards for 'Equality in the Workplace'. These awards showcase the achievements of organisations that have taken a lead in promoting workplace wellbeing and age diversity in the UK. The awards are an opportunity to celebrate their success as well as highlighting them as an inspiration to others.
The deadline for entering these prestigious awards is 5th December 2008. There are seven categories open to employers to showcase the innovative ways in which companies have tackled prejudice and succeeded in overturning outdated practices. Entrants will be judged on outcome as well as policies and on evidence that they have made a significant impact. The winners will be announced at the upcoming 'One size doesn't fit all!' Conference on 26 February 2009.
Catharine Pusey, Director of The Employer's Forum on Age comments, "The awards offer a fantastic opportunity for employers to be recognised for their work in best working practices and dispelling out of date attitudes. Highlighting innovative thinking sends out a clear message that they are a fair, forward thinking company in which care of the workforce is the key priority. We seek to congratulate publicly the forward thinking employers who consistently champion solutions to discrimination."
The seven award categories open for entry are as follows:
- Health and Wellbeing
- Lifelong learning
- Innovation in flexible working
- Using age to understand your customers
- Innovation in attracting and retaining baby boomers
- Harnessing the potential of Generation Y
- Challenging the norm and leading the debate
This is the first year that The Employers Forum on Age (EFA) and The Employers Forum on Belief (EFB) have joined forces to create one conference and award ceremony. It takes place on 26th February 2009 and the conference will focus on issues surrounding age, religion and belief in the workplace. This conference explores how organisations which embrace a diverse workplace are best placed to recruit and retain the very finest employees. By creating a truly flexible way of working organisations solve retention issues and reduce workplace conflict, getting the most out of a happy workforce.
