Royal Bank of Scotland Group
Happier staff
Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBSG) is a core member of the Employers Forum on Age and sponsored their Age Policy Review Toolkit - a diagnostic tool for profiling age within the organisation and identifying age related issues. RBSG has used the Toolkit to conduct a comprehensive age audit, in order to assess their own position, highlighting existing issues, areas of good practice and areas for improvement. The results and analysis will help with age diversity agenda and strategic planning.
RBSG are committed to retaining the talent and skills of their existing workforce and in 2004 developed a flexible retirement policy, including reducing the number of hours worked, allowing changes in levels of responsibility etc. They believe this will encourage employees to remain in employment beyond the age of 60. In addition RBSG were delighted that the level of complaints about discrimination - mostly arising from those who wished to stay on in the business - had fallen dramatically.
