New Director At The Employers Forum On Age Brings Change For The New Year
17 January 2008
Rachel Krys has been appointed Director of The Employers Forum on Age (EFA), replacing Sam Mercer who has moved on to take up a new and exciting challenge at Business in the Community.
Rachel has been at the EFA for the last five years, in the role of Head of Communications. Managing the EFA's external communications, public affairs and public relations she has worked with the EFA's partners and other organisations to raise awareness of both the benefits of age diversity and the impact of recent legislation on employers. Her involvement in the various research programmes led by the EFA has made a dramatic impact on age issues facing UK employers.
Prior to her time at EFA, Rachel was Brand Manager at Age Concern.
Hamish Elvidge, Competiton Enquiry Director, Sainsburys and EFA Chairman, said: "I am delighted that Rachel has accepted the role as Director of the EFA as she has the perfect profile for the position - experience, drive and capability. I am sure that Rachel's wealth of knowledge and commitment to helping UK businesses to recognise the value of an age diverse workforce, will continue to be a great asset to the further growth of the organisation."

In her new role as Director, Rachel will be responsible for identifying key campaign issues with the EFA members and for the forum's relationship with the Government and media. She will also represent the 250 members on the Governments Age Advisory committee. She will also be heading up the recently formed Employers Forum on Belief.
Rachel Krys, Director of the EFA commented: "It's a great time to be taking up this new role and 2008 is going to be an exciting year for the Employers Forum on Age. While age discrimination laws have been in effect for over a year, and good progress has been made in some areas, as the legislation beds in and tribunals start to come through, employers are looking more than ever for sound advice and support in managing an age diverse workforce.
"One issue we have identified as a key area in diversity is that of religion and belief in the workplace. As a result we have recently created The Employers Forum on Belief which will be officially launched at our Conference on the 13th February. The conference will be jam packed with relevant speakers and workshops and will explore what really matters to employers on age and belief. We pride ourselves on meeting the needs of our members and I am looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead and to driving the organisation forward."
A double shot: twice the strength in one hard hitting conference
13th February, in Westminster, London.
