Four New Trustees For Employers Forum On Age And Employers Forum On Belief
5 February 2008

The Employers Forum on Age (EFA) and Employers Forum on Religion and Belief (EFB) are pleased to announce the appointment of four new trustees. Tracey Dennison, Janet Gaymer, Martin Tiplady and Sam Mercer join the existing board of seven trustees.*

Tracey Dennison is the Managing Director; Human Resources for the Audit Commission. Tracey has worked in local government for nearly 30 years and during that time has been committed to delivering diversity and achieving equality.

Tracey commented: "I'm delighted to be joining the Board of EFA. I look forward to contributing to an area which is important to all employers across the public and private sectors."

Janet Gaymer, CBE, is an eminent employment lawyer with both public and private sector experience. She is currently the Commissioner for Public Appointments in England and Wales.

Janet commented: "I believe that progress on the issue of diversity in the workplace is crucial to the future success of not only UK businesses, but UK society as a whole. Discrimination laws are helping things to move forward in some areas, but there is still a lot of work to do to address attitudes to both age and belief. I am excited about being involved now in making this happen."

Martin Tiplady is the Director of Human Resources for the Metropolitan Police and has been named as 'one of the most influential people in HR', including being The Telegraph's HR director of the Year in 2004.

Martin commented: "It is vital that all organizations, both in the public and private sector are engaged with this agenda. The Metropolitan Police are committed members of the EFA and I am proud to now be taking a personal role in its success."

Sam Mercer was the Chief Executive of the EFA until the start of 2008 when she moved to the BITC as Director of Workplace, where she leads the BiTC's work on diversity, skills and health in the workplace.

Sam commented: "I am very pleased to be able to continue my relationship with the EFA and be part of the development of the EFB. It is important that we build strong links across all organizations committed to achieving equality in the workplace; focusing on what employers want and need is our primary objective."

Hamish Elvidge, Competition Inquiry Director, Sainsbury's and EFA Chairman, said "2008 will be an exciting and challenging year for both the EFA and the EFB, as we tackle the strategic implications of the Equality Act, the emerging agenda of the EHRC and employers' increasing demand for support and advice across a wide range of diversity issues. I am therefore delighted to welcome four new trustees to the board. All have a significant contribution to make to the direction we take this year and I firmly believe that their involvement will further assist Rachel Krys and her team to drive both organizations forward in support of our members."
