Guide to Age and Employment
This guide aims to help employers understand the impact of the Equality Act 2010 on employment policy, with a focus on issues related to age. It contains advice on key aspects of policy and practice illustrated by relevant legal cases and scenario examples, so that you can easily recognise areas of risk.

The Equality Act also covers discrimination in relation to the provision of services and public functions (although the provisions on age discrimination are not yet in force), but this and other sections of the Act are not within the scope of this guide.

Employer Guide to The Equality Act 2010
The Equality Act 2010 brings together and harmonises lots of previous equality law which had been enacted over a long period, so that the law will become simpler and easier both to understand and to comply with. Most of the Act's provisions came into effect on 1 October 2010 and this guide is intended to give a general introduction to its employment-related provisions.
